Welcome to Durham provides visitor facing teams and individuals with the skills, confidence and behaviours to create a great first impression, provide an excellent welcome and experiences as well as improving customer retention, loyalty and revenue.
2 day programme (not consecutive)
Participants will brush up their knowledge of what the county has to offer visitors, and learn standard and enhanced skills that will help them deliver effective and excellent service. The programme incorporates a blend of local knowledge and customer service skills delivered through a series of product knowledge tours coupled with focused learning.
Completion of the course leads to the prestigious Welcome to Durham and WorldHost accreditation.
The first day is spent on learning and discussing the theory and practice of customer service and the second is spent visiting and learning from other businesses under the guidance of a qualified Blue Badge Guide. In addition participants are expected to undertake some independent study using workbooks
The full programme normally costs £300 per participant. Qualifying businesses can access the programme at a reduced cost of:
£90 per person for businesses with under 10 employees
£100 per person for businesses with over 10 employees
10% discount for businesses putting 5 or more employees through the programme
Participants will leave the programme with a set of skills and knowledge that can be applied in the workplace immediately, qualifications in customer service and visitor welcome and membership of the Welcome to Durham programme.
