New groups website for Durham

New groups website for Durham

Visit County Durham has launched a new website to promote the county as the ideal destination for groups, working in partnership with 20 of the county’s tourism businesses.

The vibrant, easy-to-use ‘Discover Durham’ site showcases group-friendly accommodation, attractions and events and provides useful information such as guiding services, group offers and transport details.

Michelle Gorman, managing director of Visit County Durham, said: “We know how important this market is to many of the county’s tourism businesses, and the positive impact it has on the visitor economy. We hope the new website will be a source of inspiration for the travel trade and group travel organisers, and we look forward to welcoming even more group visits to our amazing county.”

Alex Jacobs, managing director of Northern Secrets tour guide company, one of the Discover Durham partners, said: “Durham has a wealth of attractions and is an ideal group destination. Working as part of the partnership to promote the county as a group destination is ideal. In addition, the new website really showcases the breadth of offer and is the perfect starting point to create an itinerary.”

Eleven Arches, the production company behind the open-air spectacular ‘Kynren – an epic tale of England’, staged at Bishop Auckland, is also a Discover Durham partner. Julia Fairnington, communications manager at Eleven Arches, added: “Kynren has proved to be the perfect addition to a trip to Durham with over 100,000 visitors experiencing the show in its first season last year, with 23pc of those travelling from outside of the region. We welcome the new website as a further platform to promote both Kynren and the wonderful Durham offer.”
