  • Today, Communities Secretary Robert Jenrick announced that business owners affected by the pandemic will be protected from eviction until the end of March 2021. (9 December)
  • Updated guidance has been published for businesses and organisations on how to recognise, contain and report incidents of coronavirus. (8 December)

  • Visit County Durham has launched a dedicated page on our visitor website to encourage consumers to ‘buy local’. If your County Durham based business offers vouchers, online ordering, delivery, collection service or special offers, email to be featured. (25 November)

  • DCMS Select Committee has published its first report on the impact of COVID-19 on DCMS sectors. (23rd July)
  • HM Treasury fundamental review of business rates: call for evidence. This call for evidence seeks views on how the business rates system currently works, issues to be addressed, ideas for change and a number of alternative taxes. We welcome views on the multiplier and reliefs sections, by 18 September, to inform an interim report in the Autumn. Responses on all other sections are invited by 31 October, ahead of the review’s conclusion in Spring 2021. (22nd July)
  • A restaurant finding service is due to be launched next week, where consumers will be able to search for Eat Out to Help Out participating businesses within a two mile radius of the postcode entered. Businesses are encouraged to make the most of the Eat Out to Help Out scheme and register today. (16th July)
  • Businesses advisors to provide free services to support small businesses in post-COVID recovery. The Recovery Advice for Business scheme, supported by the government and hosted on the Enterprise Nation website, will give small firms access to free, one-to-one advice with an expert adviser to help them through the coronavirus pandemic and to prepare for long-term recovery. (10th July)
  • To help promote the government's Enjoy Summer Safely campaign, which aims to inspire the public to begin to get back to the things they have missed whilst following COVID-19 safety guidelines, downloadable resources have been made available. (10th July)
  • Updated list of public bodies, organisations and charities that provide additional resources that may be useful to employers and employees. (9th July)
  • A New tool has been developed to help businesses in England identify whether they can reopen safely during coronavirus.  This tool encourages businesses to carry out a risk assessment and helps to identify the workplace adjustments that they should make. This guidance is only for businesses that are allowed to reopen. (21st June)
  • The Government has extended measures to prevent struggling companies from eviction until the end of September. A new code of practice has been developed with the retail, hospitality and property sectors to provide clarity for businesses when discussing rental payments and to encourage best practice so that all parties are supported. (21st June)
  • The Business Energy Efficiency Project (BEEP) has produced advice for businesses to help improve energy efficiency and reduce bills. (9th June)
  • The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy has created a Coronavirus Business Support Blog to help businesses get the support they need (5th May)
  • WTM Portfolio has launched a new online portal, WTM Global Hub, to connect and support travel industry professionals around the world (23rd April)
