Lumiere Durham – Opportunities

The streets of Durham City will once again be transformed in to a nocturnal art trail as Lumiere returns for its 10th anniversary edition in November.

The UK’s largest light festival, which welcomed 240,000 visitors in 2017 and generated £7.5million for the local economy, puts Durham on the world stage - showcasing our city through breathtaking and thought provoking artworks.

How to get involved…

Lumiere Durham represents an amazing opportunity for businesses. With so much activity taking place across social media and websites, there will be a real buzz created, and through the #Durham19 campaign businesses can tap in to this audience.


Themed activity

Use light as a theme or link activity to the festival – see examples below.

  • Attractions can ‘light up days’ or ‘shine a light’ on the county’s heritage, culture, countryside and coast
  • Accommodation offering flasks of hot chocolate
  • Eateries offering a themed afternoon tea or dish
  • Pubs and bars with a light themed drink
