• Overall visitor expenditure was £1.23 billion, up by 18.8% on 2022     
• The number of  FTE jobs supported by tourism is 13,178 up by 12.4% on 2022

Performance in Durham City

• 4.4 million people visited in 2023, up by 12.4% on 2022
• Overall visitor expenditure was at £295.99 million, up by 18.9% on 2022
• The number of FTE jobs supported by tourism is 3,099, up by 10.4% on 2022

Performance in the Durham Coast

• 3.3 million people visited in 2023, up by 12.7% on 2022
• Overall visitor expenditure was at £177.87 million, up by 19.7% on 2022
• The number of FTE jobs supported by tourism is 1,790, up by 14.9% on 2022

Performance in the Durham Dales

• 2.7 million people visited in 2023, up by 11.4% on 2022              
• Overall visitor expenditure was at £240.11 million, up by 11% on 2022
• The number of FTE jobs supported by tourism is 2,819, up by 4.6% on 2022

Performance in the Vale of Durham

• 9.8 million people visited in 2023, up by 12.8% on 2022               
• Overall visitor expenditure was at £520.17 million, up by 22.5% on 2022
• The number of FTE jobs supported by tourism is 5,471, up by 15.3% on 2022
