A message from Visit County Durham's managing director, Michelle Gorman
Visit County Durham is proud to be supporting English Tourism Week (17-26 March), which provides an important platform to showcase the amazing businesses, experiences and people that are part of the county's visitor economy, which is worth £827m annually and supports over 10,000 jobs.
It is an exciting time for Durham, with unprecedented levels of investment taking place in the sector across attractions, accommodation and food and drink; and significant landscape projects which will further enhance and raise awareness of the county's countryside and coast.
Visit County Durham was one of the first tourism organisations to receive the new Local Visitor Economy Partnership accreditation from VisitEngland earlier this year, and we are also part of the Destination Development Partnership pilot, alongside NewcastleGateshead Initiative and Visit Northumberland, which will develop new initiatives to attract visitors and investment into the region's visitor economy.
So please join me in shining a light on the importance of the visitor economy this English Tourism Week.
