Durham showcased at Great Yorkshire Show
Durham moved south, very briefly, last week as members of the Visit County Durham team headed to the Great Yorkshire Show, also flying the flag for Durham were partners including Kynren, The Auckland Project, Raby Estates, The Weardale Railway and Radisson Blu.
The annual four-day event is a highlight in the agricultural diary attracting 140,000 visitors and with Yorkshire representing a target market for the county, the show is an excellent opportunity to promote Durham.
The 165th sell out show ran from Tuesday, July 9 to Friday, July 12 with visitors travelling from as far away as New Zealand to show their animals and agricultural skills in one of the industry’s most prestigious showcases.
VCD and partners joined individuals and organisations from around the world who gathered to showcase their industries.
Michelle Gorman, managing director at Visit County Durham said: ‘The Great Yorkshire Show is always a fantastic event, and it is a great opportunity for us to represent Durham. The team worked hard to inform those attending the show about the great visitor offer we have, encouraging them to visit Durham and stay in the county. It was really encouraging to hear the positive feedback we received from people at the show.
Kieran Grieves, Director of Sales at Radisson Blu Hotel Durham said: ‘Having the opportunity to join Visit County Durham in promoting our fantastic region at the Great Yorkshire Show has been fantastic. Engagement with the show goers was really positive and we at the Radisson Blu Hotel Durham have already received some follow up business as a result of our attendance.’
