Influencer collaboration boosts Do Durham Differently campaign
Visit County Durham has joined forces with high profile travel influencers as part of its latest destination marketing campaign.
Do Durham Differently aims to showcase the endless staycation possibilities that exist in Durham by highlighting the large variety of attractions, activities and places to eat, drink and stay in the county.
And last month, Visit County Durham kickstarted the campaign by collaborating with Baj and Vaish of Exploring London.
The husband-and-wife team run successful social media channels focusing on fun and unique experiences in London and beyond. As of December 2023, they had amassed more than 340,000 followers on Instagram alone.
With high quality content and a largely UK- based audience, Exploring London was a great fit for the Do Durham Differently campaign.
To help the couple create eye-catching content, Visit County Durham arranged an itinerary that incorporated a range of experiences and showcased campaign partners. Baj and Vaish started their trip with a city break in Durham City, staying at Hotel Indigo and exploring Durham Cathedral and the nearby shops, cafes and riverbank walks.
They then headed over to the Durham Heritage Coast, where they experienced the county’s great outdoors. After an action-packed day cycling along the coastal path and searching for sea glass, the couple relaxed at Seaham Hall Hotel and Serenity Spa.
An Instagram reel posted about the trip was shared on the Exploring London and This is Durham Instagram accounts and received almost 70,000 views within two weeks of being posted. Baj and Vaish also shared Instagram stories showcasing highlights from the trip.
Visit County Durham will be collaborating with more influencers as part of the Do Durham Differently campaign in the New Year, as well as pursuing media trip opportunities with national publications.
